"Testosterone is killing your sex life, it declines by 1-2% year on year."

I speak to a lot of men in their 30s, 40s & 50s who describe their sex life to be non-existent or scarce.

As a coach and a curious individual, I'm wondering why; is this something that inevitably happens with age?

I definitely know what it feels like to have no energy and a low libido but from the other side of the spectrum where I was optimising so much.

When I used to cut down body fat at University I didn't eat overly healthy although very lean, and was likely low on nutrients & good quality food. So I felt the impacts of having low sex drive [perhaps this was because I was locked in and focused on me but that's probably just another typical male excuse].

I realised my low T was self-induced & I had to reverse it, here's what I did:

increased my step count so I could get more Vitamin D, exercise & 'feel-good' endorphins.
removed sugary snacks
didn't drink alcohol for 2 months [it's unclear whether this has a direct link with lowering testosterone but the indirect link is definitive]
meditated for 10 minutes per day
built more consistency around my sleep-wake cycle

Once I became the usual energetic & highly focused man, I thought; perhaps older men can reverse their declining levels as well.

After extensive research, it's clear that your age isn’t killing your testosterone, your lifestyle is.

Most people [men especially] don't have a lifestyle that supports good health & high energy. They're chaotic & unstructured, they're sedentary and eat poorly.

The difficult thing is that once you reach 30 your testosterone declines by 1-2% yearly, now you can reverse or at least prevent the decline by optimising your habits & lifestyle.

Here are the main causes of low testosterone:

→ high stress
→ poor nutrition
→ sedentary lifestyle
→ high body fat [obesity]
→ inconsistent circadian rhythm [sleep-wake cycle]

Many will sit in the victim mentality and allow their age to define their energy.

Others will take ownership and prepare for battle.

6 ways to naturally increase your testosterone levels;

  1. Lift weights - 3x p/w & focus on compound exercises.
  2. Improve sleep duration [+ quality] - 7-9 hours.
  3. Manage stress - prioritise stress-reducing habits.
  4. Stay hydrated - use electrolytes daily [& before your coffee].
  5. Vitamin D - Get sunlight daily!
  6. Reduce body fat - obesity can cause a 30% reduction in T levels.

Low testosterone is killing your energy, libido & focus. Stop looking for the quick fix and nail the basics.

Most career-focused individuals will say they don't have time for these habits.

But this is a mindset shift you're yet to adopt because my clients explain how their performance at work is directly impacted by their consistency with these habits.

Please note before I get cancelled that I am not oblivious to the natural causes of low testosterone, including but not limited to: genetics, medical conditions, treatments & natural ageing.

My point in this email is to empower you to make the best choices for your own health, and that most people can reverse it or at least slow down their declining levels.
