"Stop trying to make the right decisions, and start making your decisions right." I was in conversation with a very inspiring person who's gone far corporately & solidified her place in leadership. She was stuck in analysis paralysis...debating whether to begin her journey in entrepreneurship. [This was 1 year ago...] Last week, we caught up and had the same conversation as last year, and guess what? Nothing changed. Granted she's killing it in the corporate game taking home a big pay cheque. But ask her if she's happy and the answer is no. They say: nothing changes if nothing changes...and it's scary to see a walking example of this. Imagine if she'd invested a year of her time into a new venture rather, where could she be with that wealth of experience & effort? This isn't uncommon, I talk to people every single day who have put their health, lifestyle & habits on the back burner for years. Now, in so much pain that to get moving & change the paradigm feels so heavy. I see far too many people make excuses for their inaction and are in the same situation for years on end. Do you ever feel like you’re stuck trying to make the “right” decision, only to find yourself in the same spot, days, months or years later? Today, I want to challenge that mindset and offer you a new perspective. Stop Trying to Make the Right Decisions, and Start Making Your Decisions Right. In leadership, business, and life, the truth is that it’s not about finding the perfect choice. It’s about having the confidence to make a decision quickly and then owning it, adapting, and making it work by putting in maximum effort. For example; When a client comes and works with me, they are still sometimes unsure whether they've made the right decision. They have to MAKE it the right one by showing up every week and putting in the work outside of our sessions. The Cost of Overthinking Decisions: Weighing options endlessly comes with a heavy price tag - time. Time you can’t get back. Every moment spent in decision paralysis is a missed opportunity, especially in leadership. The truth is, the longer you take to decide, the more your business, life or health suffers from inaction. Inactin is in fact, making a decision. So decide to take action and then pivot if necessary. Opportunity Cost: Every decision you don’t make has a cost. The opportunity cost of waiting for the “perfect” decision is often far greater than making an imperfect decision and adjusting along the way. You may think you’re being cautious, but what you’re really doing is letting opportunities slip by—whether it’s that bold business move or making time for your health. Why is this specifically important in health: Let's face it, you're not getting any younger. As you age, your health is working against you [unless you intervene]. Every day you put off important decisions, habits & rituals; whether it’s improving your fitness, getting that check-up, or managing stress—you’re paying a price. The cost of inaction is your well-being. Your health markers like blood pressure, cholesterol, testosterone, hormone balance etc, are more difficult to manage as you age but with the right habits, the impacts can be reversed. The Sunk Cost Fallacy: We all fall into this trap at some point. We cling to poor decisions because we’ve already invested so much time, money, or energy into them. But in reality, holding on to a decision that no longer serves you is just as costly. Letting go is often the most courageous choice you can make. The Breakthrough You Need: So, how do you break free from indecision? By understanding that you don’t have to make the “right” choice - you just have to make a choice and then commit to making it work by taking 1 action, and another, and then another. Here’s how you can start today: • Decide quickly: Trust your instincts. Business leaders who excel make decisions fast and adapt. • Embrace action: Every decision is a learning opportunity. You either win or learn. • Let go of sunk costs: Don’t be afraid to pivot or change course if something isn’t working. Remember, confidence doesn’t come from being right all the time; it comes from trusting yourself to handle whatever comes next. P.S.
